Achievement House BLOG

Today, cyber security ensures online security and the safety of essential systems that we use every day. The demand for more professionals in this field is high and will only continue to grow. Achievement House Cyber School students, like graduating senior Kayanne Marti, are showing more interest in the cyber security field and taking advantage of innovative courses to prepare for a career in cyber security.

Kayanne is very proud of her high school achievements and plans on attending St. Vincent College as a Cyber security major as well as minoring in either Biotechnology or Legal Studies. Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Kayanne has realized the benefits of cyber learning currently and going forward, especially in her chosen field of study.

She states, “I feel like this is what possibly the new normal will look like for education.”

In her opinion, Achievement House Cyber Charter School’s class schedule which mirrors many college programs has greatly prepared her for the future. Kayanne attends her regular live classes daily while responsibly managing her workload throughout the day.

Kayanne says, “I liked that aspect. It definitely has not always been easy, but it has been working for me so far.”

Reflecting upon her high school years, Kayanne has greatly enjoyed her AHCCS classes. Kayanne enrolled at Achievement House because of the flexibility and courses that were offered, and always aimed to enroll in courses of interest. She is currently enrolled in the Innovation Career Academy’s Intro to Computer Science course. This course has given Kayanne foundational skills to navigate the digital world and its possibilities. These skills will only help her as she studies and pursues a career in cyber security. She has also enrolled in multiple summer programs and courses to further explore her interests and maintain her good grades. When Kayanne first enrolled at AHCCS, she thought her classes would be basic online courses, however Mrs. Longenecker’s English class changed her perspective.

Kayanne explains, “Mrs. Longenecker was very upbeat, and I really enjoyed her classes, even when it was 9:30 a.m. in the morning.  I like history and literature. Her class combined these two subjects, so I really enjoyed that approach.”

In the future, Kayanne is looking forward to studying and researching her passions in college. She is also excited in getting a job in cyber security or in cyber space research. Eventually, she would like to pursue a master’s degree in her chosen field.

“In the future, I am excited to find a job in the cyber security field and cyber space research. It is my dream job and something I have been thinking about every day since my freshman year of high school.”

Congratulations, Kayanne, on all your accomplishments! Keep working hard towards your goals!
