During the 2022–2023 school year, one of Achievement House Cyber School’s goals is to host more in person engagement events for staff, students, and their families by having various field trips and picnics. On Friday, October 14, 2022, AHCCS hosted three different Harvest Picnics in the Philadelphia, Reading, and Pittsburgh areas to provide ACHSS staff, students, and their families the opportunity for personal interaction and connection during.
These Harvest Picnics were fun-filled events with games, activities, and food. Those who attended were able to participants in contests, like “Guess the Weight of the Pumpkin” and “How Many Candy Corns are in the Jar?”. Winners who guessed correctly were award with school swag. Seasonal crafts such as decorated pumpkins and wooden harvest ornaments were also made by attendees. Each picnic site provided a free lunch for all AHCCS staff, students, and family members.
Achievement House 10 grader Husna (Ruby) Khan who attended the Harvest Picnic in Philadelphia said, “The picnic was fun. We had a really good time. If there was another opportunity to attend another picnic I would go.”
Ruby attended the picnic with her cousin, who is also an Achievement House Cyber School student, as well other members of her family. Ruby enjoyed participating in the contests, creating some fall-themed crafts, and getting to know her teachers.
The Harvest Picnics were the first school-wide picnics ever hosted by Achievement House Cyber Charter School and were a huge success! The hope is that these picnics will become annual events for the school in the years to come.
