Achievement House Cyber Charter School is holding two online Back-to-School sessions this Thursday, September 29th, at the following times:

1:00pm – 2:30pm
6:30pm – 8:00pm

Joining the Session

Just in case you’ve never used our live class software before, we’ve created this simple walkthrough to help with some common questions. Please read through the entire walkthrough before joining the live session. This will help to minimize any potential confusion. Thanks!

Our live classroom software is called “Collaborate.” In order to join a live session, you will first click on the “Join Session” link at the bottom of this page.
Clicking the link will take you to the following Collaborate web page.

To access a Collaborate session, you’ll need Java installed on your computer. If you’re using a school-provided laptop, it’s already installed! If you’re using a personal computer we recommend you begin with “Step 1.” Select your operating system, click Get Required Software, and follow the installation instructions. Remember that completed downloads look different depending on the web browser you’re using. See the bottom of this page for common examples.
Once you’re sure Java is installed, scroll down until you see “Step 2.” Then click Start Session.

Type your full name as originally provided to the school. It is important to use your full name, so our staff can correctly identify you! Then click Log In.

This will download a file called “play.jnlp” or “meeting.jnlp”. Sometimes your browser will display a small drop-down bar asking you to allow the download. This is meant to protect you from malicious software. If you see this bar, please click “Download File…” or “Allow”
Downloads appear differently depending on the type of web browser you’re using. When prompted, you should click “Allow,” “OK,” “Run,” or any similarly affirmative option.

Once the download finishes, you may need to click or double-click the “play.jnlp” or “meeting.jnlp” file to open it. You will see a loading screen for Java.

At this point, the Collaborate software should begin loading. If you see a screen asking you to grant permission to Collaborate, please click “OK” or “Allow.” This is yet another security precaution designed to make sure programs aren’t trying to run when you don’t want them to. You may also need to agree to Blackboard’s terms & conditions and select your Internet speed.
After a few moments, the Collaborate session should be up and running. We recommend that you immediately run the Audio Setup Wizard to check your speaker and microphone settings.
