Achievement House BLOG

Earlier this month, 9 new members were inducted into Achievement House’s National Honor Society. NHS was established in 1921 in order to recognize and encourage academic achievement while also developing character qualities essential to contributing citizens of a society.  At high schools across the nation, applicants must hold a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher in order to apply for membership.  To be chosen, students must exhibit excellence in character, scholarship, leadership and service and continue to maintain these qualities while members.

Achievement House launched a virtual chapter of NHS in 2011, and students meet once a month online to plan projects that revolve about community service. Students also regularly volunteer in their local communities.

Our chapter has been around since 2011 and we meet virtually once a month as a club and plan group projects. Students regularly volunteer in their local communities and must complete a minimum of 4 hours of service towards a project of their choice each year, but many of our members often go above and beyond!

Students are expected to maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA while they are a part of the group as well as upholding the ideals of NHS as a role model and leader in our school.

Members of the AHCCS National Honor Society are recognized nationally – just like any other high school! At graduation we celebrate these members by providing them with pins and honor cords to wear with their cap and gown.

Congratulations!
