Kristin Panfile of Schwenksville joined Achievement House Cyber Charter School in the middle of 9th grade. At first she had a hard time catching up mid-year, but she quickly rose to the challenges presented by cyber education and has been named the Salutatorian for the Class of 2017!
Originally Kristin selected AHCCS because her older brother Stephen, was already enrolled. The initial adjustment to cyber education was challenging mainly because she enrolled a few months into the school year. However, she adjusted quickly and ready to hit the ground running her sophomore year. As a junior and senior, Kristin took advantage of school’s flexible scheduling model. AHCCS gives students the ability to attend live synchronous classes, where all students log in with a teacher on the same days and times each week or watch the class recordings later. Regardless of what classes you take or when the live class is, any student can log in at any time of the day to view a recording.
The independent nature of cyber school taught Kristin how to motivate herself each day to complete her assignments on time. She has always been successful working independently, but AHCCS taught her how to further manage her time and create a successful schedule and plan each week.
Her advice to other AHCCS students: Staying organized is one of the most important ways to be successful in cyber school. Use a planner or calendar and schedule your assignments and projects on Mondays since most are due on Fridays. Even if you have a busy schedule set aside a certain amount of time each day to complete your school work so you don’t get off track!
Kristin will join the rest of her class on Saturday, June 17 at 11 am for their graduation ceremony at the Asplundh Theater on the campus of West Chester University. Roughly 100 graduates will be awarded their diplomas and celebrate this amazing milestone. Congratulations to the Class of 2017!
