A Journey Fueled by Determination

As Gabby DeOleo prepares to graduate from Achievement House Cyber Charter School, she reflects with pride on the perseverance, discipline, and determination that brought her to this milestone. Gabby’s journey through high school has been defined by an unwavering commitment to her goals, a deep appreciation for her support system, and a clear vision for her future.

A Calling in Criminal Justice

From an early age, Gabby aspired to pursue a career in law enforcement.

“I’ve always looked for opportunities—classes, programs, and advice from family members in the field,” she explains.

Her dedication led her to participate in the Reading Youth Police Academy, take criminal justice-related courses, and regularly seek guidance from mentors, teachers, and law enforcement professionals.

Education and Career Goals

Gabby plans to attend Reading Area Community College in the spring of 2026, where she will pursue a degree in criminal justice. She hopes to later transfer to a four-year institution and ultimately pursue a career as a sheriff or with the FBI. In the meantime, she looks forward to volunteering as an instructor with the Youth Police Academy, giving back to the program that helped shape her path.

Pursuing Passions Beyond the Classroom

Her time at Achievement House also allowed Gabby to explore other interests, including competitive boxing, which she continues to practice recreationally. Though she decided not to pursue the sport professionally, she remains active in the community by assisting fellow boxers as a sparring partner.

The Power of Flexibility and Support

Gabby credits much of her success to the flexibility and support provided by the cyber school environment.

“If I were in a traditional school setting, I wouldn’t have been able to do half the things I’ve done,” she says.

She especially values the strong relationships she built with staff and teachers, including her homeroom coach, Mrs. Brown, who played a pivotal role in her growth.

“She always made sure I was supported and thriving,” Gabby shares.

Resilience Through Life Changes

Despite facing personal challenges, such as relocating during her junior year and rehoming her two dogs, Gabby remained focused on her goals. She now recognizes how those experiences taught her time management, self-advocacy, and the importance of asking for help when needed.

Leadership and Legacy

In addition to her academic pursuits, Gabby served as Vice President of Student Voice and was inducted into the National Honor Society. These leadership roles provided opportunities to mentor younger students and be a positive influence in the school community. This year, she has also been selected to lead her peers in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance at the in-person graduation ceremony, an honor that reflects her leadership, patriotism, and strong sense of civic duty.

Looking Ahead

As she looks ahead, Gabby is excited to begin college, gain real-world experience through shadowing opportunities, and meet others who share her passion for justice and public service.

Her advice to incoming cyber students is clear: “Trust your teachers, speak up, and don’t be afraid to get involved.”

Celebrating a Standout Student

Gabby DeOleo’s journey is a powerful reminder of what students can achieve when they are supported, driven, and open to growth. We are proud to celebrate her accomplishments and can’t wait to see the impact she’ll make in the years to come.
