At Achievement House Cyber Charter School, we love to celebrate the unique stories and successes of our students. This month, we are excited to feature Elijah Lawson, an 8th-grade student who has been part of AHCCS since October.
Elijah joined AHCCS at his mother’s recommendation and has enjoyed the transition to online learning. One of the biggest benefits for him has been the convenience—no early morning trips to the bus stop and a learning environment that feels easier to manage. Instead of writing by hand, he prefers typing, which helps him stay organized.
Adapting to online learning can be challenging, but Elijah has found effective ways to stay on top of his assignments. He relies on the to-do list and upcoming assignments section to keep track of his workload. Paying attention in class is also a key factor in his success, as he knows that staying on top of his work directly impacts his grades, which he values highly.
One of Elijah’s favorite experiences at AHCCS has been joining the Aviation Club, where he learns about aerodynamics, lift, and different types of airplanes. While cyber school has presented some social challenges, especially with classmates living in different areas, he has stayed connected through friendships from his previous school and by engaging with his club.
Although still in middle school, Elijah is already thinking about his future. He hopes to attend Penn State and is considering careers in the military, aviation, or boxing. He also has entrepreneurial ambitions, particularly in the automotive industry, with an interest in designing and manufacturing car spoilers.
Since enrolling at AHCCS, Elijah has learned a lot about himself. He describes himself as someone who thinks deeply about things and has developed strong time management skills. He credits cyber school with helping him become a hard worker and manage responsibilities effectively.
Elijah encourages new cyber students to be patient, as the learning process becomes easier over time.
His message to fellow students is simple: “Work hard and be kind.”
Thank you, Elijah, for sharing your story! We look forward to seeing all the great things you accomplish.
