As part of our Senior Spotlight Blog Series, Achievement House Cyber Charter School is proud to celebrate the Class of 2025. Today, we’re excited to highlight Kam Plarr, a dedicated student whose high school journey has been filled with growth, perseverance, and big dreams for the future.
For Kam, one of the biggest accomplishments has been her academic transformation. Before enrolling at AHCCS, she struggled with her grades, but since joining the school, she’s consistently earned high marks and made the Distinguished Honor Roll in nearly every marking period.
“Keeping all of my grades above a B is something I’m really proud of,” she shared.
Kam is now preparing to take the next step in her educational journey—attending Temple University. With her acceptance already secured and plans in motion to join the main campus in the fall, she’s looking forward to life in the city, meeting new people, and experiencing college life firsthand.
Graduation holds special meaning for Kam and her family. She’ll be the first in her immediate family to walk across the stage, and her brother, who didn’t have the chance to graduate himself, plans to attend the ceremony to cheer her on.
“He told me he wants to see his baby sister do something he never did. That means a lot to me.”
One part of graduation she’s especially excited for? Meeting her classmates in person for the first time.
“We don’t really use our cameras in class, so getting to see everyone face to face is going to be so cool,” Kam said.
She’s also looking forward to the senior slideshow and experiencing the day alongside her fellow graduates.
Throughout her high school years, Kam embraced the flexibility of cyber learning. That freedom allowed her to work and, more importantly, discover who she is.
“Having more free time allowed me to really figure out what I like to do and who I am as a young adult.”
After losing her mother in 2021, Kam gained a new sense of independence and strength.
“It made me realize that I get to grow up now and push myself forward without needing anyone else to do it for me.”
That self-motivation has shaped her perspective on life and fueled her desire to succeed.
At Temple, Kam plans to major in psychology and is excited to begin this new chapter. While she once considered joining the Navy right after high school, with guidance from her counselor, Ms. Fountain, she decided that college was the right path for her now.
Ms. Fountain played a big role in helping Kam navigate not just her academics, but also her future. From exploring military options to organizing credits and schedules, she was a reliable support system.
“Anything I ever needed, she was there—whether it was a quick text, a phone call, or just someone to talk to,” Kam said.
She’s also looking forward to dorm life, trying new activities, and getting involved in clubs at Temple.
“When I toured the campus through an AHCCS field trip, I knew it was the place for me. That experience helped me make my final decision.”
Kam acknowledges that being a cyber student taught her valuable time management and personal responsibility.
“Online school helped me become more independent. I know when I have to get my work done, and I don’t procrastinate.”
These skills have set a strong foundation for success in college, where self-discipline is key.
Her advice to future cyber students?
“Go to class every day—it really helps you understand the material better. And don’t fall behind on homework, because it piles up quickly.”
Looking back, Kam wishes she had made more connections during high school, but she’s grateful for the people she met through work and the support she received from AHCCS staff.
“I have a lot of work friends, and even though they’re older than me, I enjoy spending time with them.”
She’ll miss the flexibility that came with high school, but she’s excited to step into adulthood and meet new people.
“I’m ready to get out of my shell.”
To her younger self, Kam would offer this advice,
“Make friends. Reach out when you need help. Be as friendly as you can.”
She plans to carry that mindset into college and take full advantage of the opportunities ahead.
Congratulations, Kam. Your strength, independence, and determination have carried you far—and there’s so much more ahead. We’re proud to celebrate your journey and can’t wait to see what the future holds for you.
